Geoffrey Mosiria Receives a New Job Offer Hours After Sakaja Sacks Him, Promised Private Office

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has received a job offer from a Mombasa businessman following his dismissal by Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The businessman, popularly known as The Car Don, reached out to Mosiria in a Tiktok video shared on Thursday, October 22, offering him an opportunity to join his motors company and help with marketing and advertising.

Haytham encouraged Mosiria to consider working with him instead of worrying about losing his county government position. He also promised to provide the former chief officer with a private office at the business premises.

The businessman noted that Mosiria had built a following and attracted public attention, qualities he believed could be useful in promoting the company’s activities.

He further assured Mosiria that he would have his support as he adjusted to life outside City Hall, urging him not to allow his dismissal to stop him from pursuing other opportunities.

Haytham’s offer came a day after Sakaja removed Mosiria from his position as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.

The decision was communicated through a circular signed by Nairobi County Secretary Dr Machel Waikenda on Wednesday, October 21. However, the notice did not explain why the governor had decided to remove the outspoken county official.

Zipporah Njeri Mwangi was subsequently assigned to oversee the office in an acting capacity while retaining her responsibilities in the City Culture, Arts and Tourism department.

Mosiria had become a familiar figure in Nairobi’s public affairs, frequently drawing attention through his activities and statements on issues affecting residents.

His departure from the county government also comes at a time when he has expressed interest in seeking the Nairobi governorship in the 2027 General Election.

The former chief officer announced his political ambitions during a church service hosted by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru on October 11, signalling his intention to challenge Sakaja for the county’s top seat.

Mosiria raised concerns about his working relationship with the county administration, claiming that he had been sidelined since December 2023. He also questioned aspects of the county’s budgetary arrangements.

It remains unclear whether Mosiria will accept Haytham’s offer or what his next move will be following his removal from office.
