Ghanaian Entertainment Industry Mourns Actor Kwame Dzokoto

Ghana’s entertainment industry is mourning the death of veteran actor, comedian and broadcaster Seth Kwame Dzokoto, popularly known as Kwame Dzokoto, who died on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the age of 51.

Dzokoto was widely recognised for his portrayal of Judge Koboo in the popular Ghanaian television series Efiewura and his work as the host of TV3’s food and tourism programme Edziban.

Reports indicate that the actor collapsed while participating in a live panel discussion on the morning programme Oman Nkosuo on Owass Radio in Tarkwa, in the Western Region.

He was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The medical cause of his death has not been officially disclosed.

News of his passing has brought renewed attention to his contributions to Ghanaian entertainment, where he built a career spanning television, comedy, radio broadcasting and voice-over work.

Through his role as Judge Koboo in Efiewura, Dzokoto became a familiar face in Ghanaian households. His comic delivery and distinctive expressions helped make the character memorable among viewers of the long-running television series.

Beyond acting, he made a significant contribution to food and lifestyle television through Edziban. The programme explored Ghanaian cuisine, local eateries and traditional dishes, introducing viewers to different aspects of the country’s food culture.

His work on the programme helped establish him as a recognisable personality in Ghanaian food broadcasting.

Dzokoto also worked as a radio presenter, including stints with Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi. His experience across different media platforms demonstrated his versatility as an entertainer and broadcaster.

Outside the entertainment industry, he was involved in politics and contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the 2016 general elections.

His career reflected a diverse range of interests, extending from comedy and television presenting to broadcasting and public service.

In September 2026, Dzokoto addressed rumours about his death, explaining that he had been experiencing health challenges and was recovering following surgery abroad.

His death has therefore come as a shock to many who knew him through his work on television and radio.

As tributes emerge, his contributions to Ghanaian entertainment, particularly through Efiewura and Edziban, remain an important part of his legacy.

Further details concerning funeral arrangements and an official statement from his family are yet to be announced.
