Owas FM May Not Be Popular But Have Showed Competence That Some Media Station Cannot Match—Bongo

According to a Post on Bongo Ideas official facebook account on Thursday, October 22,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas, has praised Owass FM, journalist Prince Kwaw Gymiah and the station’s media crew for demonstrating what he describes as responsible journalism following the death of Kwame Dzokoto.

In a Facebook post, Bongo Ideas commended the radio station for reportedly choosing not to broadcast the final moments of the late Dzokoto, describing the decision as an example of professionalism and respect for human dignity.

He extended his appreciation to everyone present in the studio, saying their conduct deserved recognition for prioritising responsible media practice over broadcasting sensitive moments surrounding the death.

“Everyone present in that studio deserves massive respect. This is what responsible journalism looks like!” he wrote.

Bongo Ideas also used the opportunity to commend Owass FM despite what he described as the station’s relatively lower popularity compared with some of Ghana’s major media organisations.

According to him, the station had demonstrated a standard of professionalism that some widely celebrated media houses could learn from.

He argued that the decision not to air the final moments of the deceased highlighted the importance of exercising discretion when covering sensitive incidents, particularly those involving death and grieving families.

His comments have drawn attention to the ethical responsibilities of media organisations when reporting on tragic events, including the need to balance the public’s interest in information with respect for privacy and human dignity.

Although major media outlets often face pressure to attract audiences through breaking news and exclusive footage, the incident, as described in Bongo Ideas’ post, underscores the importance of editorial judgment in determining what should be broadcast.
