“Debibi United pitch is meant for cassava plantation, not football.” — Bibiani Gold Stars head coach

Bibiani Gold Stars head coach Petros Koukouras has criticised the condition of the Debibi Presby Park pitch, describing it as unsuitable for football after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Debibi United.

Debibi United secured the victory on Sunday, October 18, 2026, to move out of the relegation zone in the Ghana Premier League.

Maxwell Agyemang scored just before half-time to earn the hosts all three points, ending their three-match winless run and taking them level with Gold Stars on seven points.

Speaking after the game, Koukouras expressed frustration with the playing surface, arguing that its condition made it difficult to focus on the football.

“We cannot discuss football. I don’t think this is a pitch designated for football. Maybe it is designated for cassava plantation. I don’t have anything else to say,” he said.

The defeat leaves Gold Stars with work to do as they prepare to host Heart of Lions in their next league fixture.

Debibi United will look to build on the victory when they travel to face Bechem United.
