“I had s8xual intercourse with her after sent her to buy sachet water” – Suspect admits to police

Police in the Yilo Krobo Municipality have arrested a 41-year-old accounts clerk at Klo-Agogo Senior High School over allegations that he defiled a 15-year-old Junior High School student. According to a report by GhanaWeb, the suspect is being investigated in connection with the alleged offence.

The suspect, identified as Saviour Attor, was arrested after the matter was reported to the Obawale Police Station by the girl’s grandfather. The complaint was lodged with assistance from the local Assembly Member, according to a report by 3news.com.

Following the complaint, the girl’s grandfather, the Assembly Member and police officers proceeded to Attor’s residence, where he was apprehended. He was subsequently handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigation.

According to the police, the girl alleged that the suspect sent her to purchase a sachet of water before assaulting her at his residence. She has since been referred for a medical examination, with the findings expected to assist investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police also disclosed that Attor admitted to the encounter in his cautioned statement. He remains in custody as investigations into the allegations continue.

Authorities have not announced a date for the case to be heard in court.

The ongoing investigation, alongside the pending medical examination, highlights concerns about the safety of young girls and the need to protect children from abuse. Further developments in the case are expected to determine whether the suspect will face formal prosecution over the allegations.
