Malema brands Eastern Cape a province of ‘zeros’

KUGOMPO CITY – The Eastern Cape is the country’s worst-run province, according to EFF leader Julius Malema.

He has warned that residents will continue to suffer under ANC rule, promising better support for the elderly under an EFF-led government.

Malema was addressing thousands of supporters in KuGompo City as part of the party’s Local Government Elections campaign.

Malema began his KuGompo City visit in Bhongweni, where residents’ homes were demolished amid allegations of illegal land invasions.

The party’s commander-in-chief says that if the EFF ran Buffalo City Metro, they would offer more support to the elderly.

“There are two reasons why the elderly of the Eastern Cape remain loyal to the ANC. They are loyal because of Nelson Mandela and the legacy he left behind. They also have this misconception that without the ANC they will not be given social grants,” he said.

“We, as the EFF, say that they will be provided more than what they are given.”

Malema wrapped up his visit in Duncan Village, where he again criticised Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane.

“They call it a province of heroes, but to me, as long as you don’t deliver to people, it is a province of zeros, a province of Oscar Mabuyane, a domkop of note and who has got no idea of what he’s doing,” Malema told supporters.

The Economic Freedom Fighters leader now heads to Mangaung on Thursday to canvass for votes ahead of the 4 November polls.
