“Rulani Is Number One and Different” — Mokwena Wins Praise After Impressive Start at Pyramids FC

South African coach Rulani Mokwena continues to earn praise in Egypt following his impressive start at Pyramids FC, with his performances strengthening the club’s hopes of winning the Egyptian Premier League title.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has made an immediate impact since taking charge of the Egyptian side, guiding the team to a remarkable run of victories across domestic and continental competitions. His early success has attracted attention from Egyptian football personalities, who have praised his coaching approach and ability to manage pressure.

According to a report published by Goal.com on October 15, 2026, former Al Ahly goalkeeper and respected football analyst Ahmed Shobeir expressed admiration for Mokwena’s work at Pyramids, highlighting the South African’s calmness and determination on the touchline. Shobeir believes the coach’s approach is sending a strong message to rival teams that Pyramids are serious about challenging for major honours.

Mokwena’s arrival has brought renewed optimism to Pyramids supporters, who are eager to see their team compete for the Egyptian Premier League crown. The club finished second last season and narrowly missed out on the title, making the current campaign an important opportunity to go one step further.

The team’s performances under Mokwena have strengthened those ambitions. Pyramids recently secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Tala’ea El Gaish, extending their winning run and maintaining their position at the top of the league standings.

The result also demonstrated the team’s attacking strength and ability to convert opportunities into goals. Mokwena has received recognition for his tactical preparation and the way he has encouraged his players to execute their plans on the pitch.

His calm demeanour during matches has also attracted attention. Shobeir praised the coach’s composure, suggesting that his ability to remain focused under pressure has contributed to the team’s strong performances.

For Mokwena, however, the challenge will be maintaining the team’s momentum throughout a demanding season. Pyramids face competition from established Egyptian giants, including Al Ahly and Zamalek, who will also be determined to challenge for the championship.

The coach must therefore ensure that his players remain consistent while managing the demands of domestic and continental football.

Mokwena previously enjoyed considerable success with Mamelodi Sundowns, winning several trophies before continuing his coaching career abroad. His experience at Sundowns has helped shape his reputation as one of South Africa’s recognised coaching talents.

With Pyramids continuing to perform strongly, expectations are growing among supporters who hope the club can finally secure the Egyptian Premier League title.

For now, Mokwena’s immediate priority is to maintain the team’s impressive form and keep Pyramids competitive in every competition they enter.
