When Obi Was Asked On Channels TV, ‘What Is Your Manifesto?’ He Said, ‘I Will Not Tell You’ – Egoh
In an interview on TVC News on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Hon. Oghene Egoh, a former federal lawmaker and member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC), questioned Peter Obi’s decision not to disclose his manifesto during a television interview, arguing that Nigerians deserved to know what presidential candidates intended to do if elected.
Egoh said, “When Peter Obi was asked on Channels TV, ‘What is your manifesto?’ he said, ‘I will not tell you’” He cited the exchange while explaining why he believed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was better positioned to lead the country.
According to Egoh, it was unreasonable for a presidential candidate to expect Nigerians to vote for him without clearly presenting his policy proposals. He argued that manifestos were important because they allowed citizens to understand candidates’ priorities and evaluate how they planned to address the country’s challenges.
The former lawmaker also praised Tinubu for proceeding with the removal of the fuel subsidy, a policy he said the president had previously supported. He maintained that Tinubu had demonstrated consistency by implementing the decision after assuming office.
Egoh acknowledged that the policy had contributed to economic difficulties for many Nigerians but insisted that the administration was taking steps to improve the situation. He cited increased allocations to state and local governments and government support for eligible students in public tertiary institutions as examples of measures intended to assist citizens.
He further stated that the APC Presidential Campaign Council was preparing to explain the administration’s policies and achievements through nationwide engagement ahead of the 2027 election.
He concluded that Nigerians should demand clear policy commitments from anyone seeking the presidency, maintaining that voters needed sufficient information to make informed decisions about the country’s future.
