Kane Closes In on Ronaldo’s Record, but Bayern Fail to Beat Arsenal
Munich — Harry Kane continued his remarkable individual form by scoring in his 10th consecutive UEFA Champions League match, moving within one game of Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time record. However, his goal and assist were not enough to secure victory for Bayern Munich, who were held to a 2–2 draw by Arsenal at a pulsating Allianz Arena.
The match got off to an eventful start when Arsenal suffered an early blow, losing star winger Bukayo Saka to an injury inside the opening 15 minutes. His replacement, Eberechi Eze, made an instant impact by beating Bayern’s offside trap in the 25th minute to slot past Manuel Neuer and give the Gunners a 1–0 lead.
Bayern responded ten minutes later. Harry Kane dropped deep to orchestrate the play, delivering a precise pass to Alphonso Davies, who finished past David Raya in the 35th minute to draw the hosts level before half-time.
The second half proved equally open, with both goalkeepers called upon to make sharp saves. Just after the hour mark, Bayern earned a penalty when Gabriel Magalhães handled inside the box.
Kane stepped up to convert the 61st-minute penalty with absolute confidence, putting Bayern ahead 2–1. The milestone goal made Kane only the second player in history—alongside Cristiano Ronaldo—to find the net in 10 consecutive Champions League matches, leaving him just one shy of Ronaldo’s benchmark streak of 11.
As Bayern pushed to lock up the three points, Arsenal found a late lifeline. In the 82nd minute, Declan Rice struck a fine equalizer following a swift team move to make it 2–2.
