Former Kano State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Mansur Ahmed, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing concerns over the party’s worsening internal affairs. Ahmed, a close ally of former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, submitted his resignation to the APC chairman of Yakasai Ward in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

Ahmed served as commissioner under former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from 1999 to 2003 and previously contested for the Kano governorship.
The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) has intensified regional disease surveillance following Nigeria’s confirmation of an imported Ebola case in Abuja on October 20, 2026. The infected woman had recently arrived from Uganda, developed symptoms on October 7 and received treatment at a private hospital on October 11 before laboratory tests confirmed the infection.
WAHO is working with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and health authorities across the Economic Community of West African States to strengthen preparedness and prevent cross-border transmission. It urged residents to practise good hygiene, avoid contact with bodily fluids of sick or deceased persons and infected animals, seek prompt medical attention for symptoms and rely on verified information about the outbreak.
