Broda Shaggi Shares How He Survived a Stray Bullet Injury
Nollywood actor and comedian Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has spoken about the fear and uncertainty he faced after being hit by a stray bullet while filming a comedy skit in Ogun State.
According to a report by Punch News on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The comedian, in a YouTube video released on Wednesday night, said the incident left him unable to work for months and raised concerns about his future in the entertainment industry.
PUNCH Online had reported in March 2026 that Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury while filming under the Sango-Ota bridge on a Sunday afternoon. At the time, details surrounding the shooting were unclear. The Ogun State Police Command also said it could not confirm whether the incident occurred within its jurisdiction.
Recounting his experience, Shaggi said he was carrying out a routine brand activation assignment when the shooting happened. He recalled seeing blood and praying while waiting to receive medical attention.
“I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital,” he said, explaining that he could only remember praying before reaching the first hospital, where he received first aid.
The injury left him worried about whether he would regain the ability to dance, sing and perform, activities that have become important parts of his career. He also feared that his prolonged absence could make fans lose interest in his work.
Shaggi said he had maintained a demanding schedule since 2018, moving between writing scripts, filming skits, recording music and travelling for engagements without taking significant breaks.
During his hospitalisation, he tried to remain productive by writing and starting a YouTube series. However, watching his colleagues continue to perform sometimes left him emotional, as he was uncertain whether he would recover enough to return to the same activities.
The comedian underwent surgery in Nigeria but said he was advised to undergo further treatment and physiotherapy. After about four months, he travelled to Dubai for additional treatment.
According to Shaggi, his condition improved considerably following surgery in Dubai. He said he was able to stand with support on the second day and walk with crutches on the third day.
Although he can now stand without crutches, he still relies on them for support as his recovery continues.
Reflecting on the shooting, Shaggi expressed gratitude that the bullet struck his hip rather than his head or another vital organ.
Describing his survival as a second chance, the comedian thanked his supporters and promised to return to their screens with new projects.
He also encouraged fans to look forward to his comeback, saying he has several projects lined up as he continues his recovery.
