“Don’t Marry From The Same Tribe”- Peller Advises Nigerians

Popular Nigerian TikTok star Peller has sparked reactions online after advising Nigerians to consider marrying partners from different ethnic backgrounds rather than within their own tribes.

In a statement circulating on social media, the content creator urged Yoruba people to consider marrying outside their ethnic group and gave similar advice to the Igbo, suggesting that people should explore relationships with partners from other tribes.

“You need to marry another tribe, don’t marry from the same tribe,” Peller said, adding that he would not marry a fellow Yoruba woman.

The TikTok star also spoke about his own marriage, stating that he married a Benin woman. He referenced his parents, who are both Yoruba, while explaining his position on marriages between people from the same ethnic group.

Acknowledging that his opinion might not sit well with everyone, Peller appealed to Nigerians not to take offence at his remarks.

“Make Una no vex,” he added, as he continued to encourage people to consider interethnic marriages.

His comments have since drawn attention, with his views on marrying outside one’s tribe likely to generate further discussions among social media users.
