Updated UCL Table After Manchester United’s 4-1 Loss to Como Sees Them Drop to 23rd
According to a report by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Manchester United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League, increasing the pressure on manager Michael Carrick after a disappointing performance in Italy.
Como made the perfect start when Nico Paz opened the scoring just two minutes into the match. The early goal put United on the back foot and gave the hosts confidence as the Red Devils struggled to impose themselves on the game.
United were unable to find a response before half-time, leaving Como with a narrow advantage at the interval. The hosts then extended their lead shortly after the restart when Anastasios Douvikas produced a clinical finish to make it 2-0.
Paz struck again to put Como firmly in control, completing his brace and leaving United facing a difficult task to rescue the match. Carrick attempted to change the situation by introducing Joshua Zirkzee for Bruno Fernandes in the 67th minute, with the United captain replaced after operating in a false-nine role.
Amad Diallo provided one of United’s brighter moments after coming on, forcing Como goalkeeper Butez into a save with a powerful effort from 25 yards. United also enjoyed a spell of possession as they searched for a route back into the contest, but Como remained organised defensively.
The hosts then delivered the decisive blow in the 76th minute. Jacobo Ramon was left unmarked inside the penalty area and met Kaiki’s cross with a header that beat goalkeeper Lammens to make it 4-0.
United continued to push forward but could not reduce the deficit until stoppage time. Amad supplied the cross for Zirkzee, who controlled the delivery before firing past Butez to make it 4-1 in the 91st minute.
The late goal provided little consolation for United, who had been comprehensively outplayed for much of the contest. The visitors continued to search for another opening but were unable to add to their tally before the final whistle.
Como held on to secure a convincing 4-1 victory, with Paz’s two goals, Douvikas’ finish and Ramon’s late header completing a memorable Champions League result for the Italian side.
