Judge Judy proves she’s ageless in unearthed before and after photos as she turns 84
LEAVE A COMMENT Judge Judy, turned 84 on October 21, and we're celebrating the powerhouse who filled our TV screens with confidence and sass.
She was the star of the courtroom show Judge Judy which impressively ran for 25 seasons, from 1995 until 2021.
Her follow-up series called Judy Justice kicked off the same year, and on October 22, the final episode will air, just in time for her festive week.
Judy had a successful decades-long run and was only ready for her next chapter of retirement last year.
She has since been supporting her son Adam Levy’s new series called Adam’s Law, which is also a courtroom TV show.
Judy expressed on Good Morning America that she’s “retiring from [the] in-front-of-the-camera TV bench,” and emphasized: “First of all, [Adam] was ready.”
Regardless of her age or what era of life she’s in, Judy has maintained a youthful appearance.
She revealed on the daytime show: “I’ve aged pretty well over the years. Reasonably. I look better than my grandmother did at my age, which didn’t take a lot.”
Judy added: “But it’s time for me to [retire]. I’m still going to be creative… I’m just going to take the message and put it in a little bit of a different form. I’m going to become the Benjamin Button of court.”
Although Judy looks incredible, the star doesn’t watch herself on TV in order to protect her mental health, and focus on her work instead of her looks.
She revealed to People: “I don’t watch myself on TV. It comes up occasionally on my Instagram, but just for a second, just for a minute. And then I look at myself and I say, ‘You know what? That was pretty smart.'”
The star wanted to prioritize the context of her statements on the show, rather than how she physically appeared to viewers.
She recalled: “I did [watch] in the beginning, and then I realized that, in looking at myself, I was not only looking at the substance of what I was saying, but from a very surface position. I was looking [at] how my face looked and how my neck looked and what my best angle was.”
Judy admitted: “I found that I would think about it if I watched it myself. I would think about it and say, ‘You know what? Don’t look up like that. Don’t look down like that. Your face doesn’t look good.'”
She didn’t feel her most confident watching herself, therefore she stopped doing so.
Judy concluded: “I didn’t want that to be part of the way I worked so I stopped watching myself because I said, ”Oh my God, what a terrible angle. This is not good. Did you have makeup today? Look how awful your hair looks.’ Whatever it was, I didn’t want that to interfere with the process of my work, so I don’t watch.”
