Geoffrey Mosiria: How Much Nairobi County Chief Officer Earns Monthly

Geoffrey Mosiria’s earnings as a Nairobi City County chief officer have drawn attention following his removal from the county government’s executive structure on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Mosiria, who previously served as the Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, was among the senior county officials affected by changes announced by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja. His removal has renewed interest in the salary and benefits attached to the position he held.

According to a report by TUKO, public estimates place Mosiria’s total monthly compensation at approximately KSh 470,000. However, the figure has not been confirmed through his personal payslip, as Mosiria has declined to disclose his exact earnings.

The report indicates that a chief officer in Job Group S earns a basic monthly salary ranging from KSh 133,870 to KSh 197,800, depending on their position on the salary scale.

In addition to the basic salary, the remuneration framework provides a monthly house allowance of KSh 60,000 and a commuter allowance of KSh 20,000.

These allowances, combined with the basic salary, place the monthly cash earnings within a range of approximately KSh 213,870 to KSh 277,800 before deductions, based on the figures cited in the report. The separate estimate of KSh 470,000 represents a broader compensation package and should not be interpreted as Mosiria’s confirmed take home pay.

Chief officers also qualify for various employment benefits, including medical insurance covering the officer, one spouse and up to four dependent children below the age of 25. The reported medical cover includes inpatient benefits of up to KSh 3 million, outpatient cover of KSh 200,000, maternity cover of KSh 100,000, and dental and optical benefits of KSh 50,000 each.

The remuneration framework also provides for service gratuity calculated at 31% of annual basic salary for every year served under the applicable terms. Other benefits include group life insurance, personal accident cover and access to car loans and mortgage facilities at an interest rate of 3% per annum, subject to the applicable conditions and availability of funds.

Despite public interest in his earnings, Mosiria has maintained that he would not disclose his exact payslip. He has previously stated that his earnings are sufficient for his needs and that he donates 10% of his salary to support and rescue street children.

His removal from the county executive structure has placed his public service career under renewed scrutiny, with his salary and benefits becoming part of the wider discussion surrounding senior officials working at Nairobi City Hall.
