WARNING: Buyers Risk Losing Money in Disputed Njiru Land Deals, Kirima’s Widow Says

Teresia Wairimu, the widow of the late Kenyan billionaire Gerishon Kirima, has issued a stern warning to anyone planning to buy a portion of the disputed 1,000-acre Njiru land that belonged to her husband.

Speaking in an interview aired by NTV Kenya on October 21, 2026, Wairimu said she had no knowledge that her stepchildren were selling the prime property. She asked that all transactions stop immediately.

“Those who are buying the land, please do not pay until the family sits down and we understand each other,” she said, her frustration clear throughout the interview.

Wairimu explained that the land had previously been grabbed, and that she alone took up the legal fight to reclaim it. She said she went to court with three lawyers in a long and difficult process, eventually winning a ruling in favour of the Kirima estate before Judge Ukongo.

She said the children took no part in that struggle and have not paid the lawyers. According to her, they do not even know how much the case cost.

The widow insisted that as the surviving wife, no major decision about the property should be made without her involvement. She said the children had never told her how many portions they were selling or for how much. “I am the wife of the late man. I have not been told anything. Any property of the late man must go through me,” she said firmly.

Her warning also reached financial institutions. She cautioned banks against approving loans that use the Njiru land as security until the family settles its differences. She said the title should not be handed to the children because the land belongs to her late husband and not to them.

Wairimu stressed that anyone who goes ahead and pays for the land does so at their own risk, and could lose their money. She urged the family to sit down and reach a formal agreement before any further dealings take place.

The claims made by the widow have not been responded to by the children.
