Today’s Headlines:PDP to punish Wike-Party chieftain Ogidi drops hint;Ganduje’s ally Ahmed quit APC

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emmanuel Ogidi, says the party will soon punish erring members, particularly Federal Capital Territory, FCT, minister, Nyesom Wike.

Ogidi made this assertion on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television, where he spoke on the crisis rocking the party, which he described as internal sabotage.

According to him, the party has moved on from the demands made by Wike’s camp.

He insisted that PDP is owned by the people and not by any individual or group.

A former Kano State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Mansur Ahmed, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing concerns over the party’s deteriorating affairs.

Ahmed, a close political ally of former Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, announced his decision in a resignation letter submitted to the APC chairman of Yakasai Ward in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

His resignation comes barely a week after another prominent politician in the state, Arc. Aminu Dabo, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), also quit the ruling party.

In his letter, Ahmed said the decision followed a collective assessment of the state of affairs in the APC by him and his political associates.

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Yusuf Bello Aliyu, member representing Nassarawa Local Government Area, for three months over alleged insulting remarks against Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

At its plenary on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the assembly directed the lawmaker to stay away from all legislative activities throughout the suspension period.

The suspension followed a video in which the lawmaker was seen holding a rabbit by its ears while making remarks allegedly considered insultive to the governor.

The assembly had earlier announced that it would invite the lawmaker over the video.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, on Wednesday, described Governor Alex Otti of Abia State as a failure.

Agada said the NDC will ensure that Otti is kicked out in 2027 because he has no magic wand to solve the misgovernance in his state and Nigeria.

He was reacting to a video of a man calling out Otti over the dilapidated condition of a school in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.

Reacting, Agada said no child deserves to learn in a school with dilapidated structures.
