Khvicha Kvaratskhelia To Undergo Surgery After ACL Injury During PSG’s Win Vs Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery after suffering a serious knee injury during their 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona.

According to a report by Sky Sports on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the Georgia international ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Tuesday night’s encounter at the Parc des Princes.

Kvaratskhelia sustained the injury early in the second half following a challenge involving Barcelona’s Xavi Espar. The winger immediately grabbed his right knee as he fell to the ground, prompting concern from the PSG medical team.

The 25-year-old received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being helped off, unable to put weight on his injured leg.

PSG subsequently confirmed the severity of the injury in an official statement released on Wednesday morning.

“Having suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during yesterday’s match against FC Barcelona, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days,” the club said.

The injury represents a significant setback for PSG, who secured an important victory against Barcelona in the Champions League league phase.

“Following a left thigh injury, Ousmane Dembele will remain under treatment for the next few weeks,” PSG confirmed.

The club added: “Following a right thigh injury, Marquinhos will remain under treatment for the next few weeks.”

The three injuries leave PSG dealing with several fitness concerns after their victory, although Kvaratskhelia’s ACL rupture is the most serious setback confirmed so far.
