North West, 13, sparks debate as she debuts ‘new ‘piercing’ in video amid ‘demonic’ accusations

The teenager appeared to have a 'throat piercing' in a recent TikTok video

North West has raised eyebrows after appearing to have a throat piercing in a new TikTok video.

The teenage daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West regularly raises eyebrows with her experimental gothic style, regularly rocking neon blue wigs, black clothes and heavy makeup.

However, the most controversial part of North's look is of course the number of piercings she has, which are both real and fake.

In a recent clip posted to TikTok, the 13-year-old was seen lip-syncing to an audio track while showing off her unique look.

But it was the appearance of a barbell across the front of her neck which really got people talking, as commenters rushed to debate whether or not the piercing was real or fake.

"A throat piercing?!" penned one shocked viewer, which swiftly sparked an impassioned debate over the subject.

While it is indeed possible to get your neck area pierced, the most common options are piercings in the nape of the neck or dermal anchors, the likelihood of Miss Westie having a real throat piercing is extremely low.

According to California State Law, children under the age of 18 need consent from a parent to get a piercing, with most shops refusing to do specialised or surface piercings on under-18s.

Kardashian herself has also alluded to her daughter's piercings being fake during an appearance on sister Khloe Kardashian's podcast, explaining that the teenager has always been experimental with her style.

North is also known to regularly sport fake body modifications, with the piercings on her face widely believed to be stick-on ones. The teenager is, however, believed to have real dermal piercings on her hands, a move which caused backlash due to the piercings' high risk of infection.

The latest body modification follows North's decision to hit back at criticism over her looks, telling followers during a TikTok live that her fashion sense does not mean she is 'demonic'.

“I'm not demonic guys, stop saying I’m demonic," she said during the livestream, which was chaperoned by her mother. "No, I’m not. Just because I like to dress this way."

When Kardashian suggested that her piercings, clothes and black grills may be the reason some people think this, North hit back: "Yeah but I don’t know why you guys should put that with demonic because I don’t get that.

"You guys know I’m not on that demon stuff. I believe in Jesus. That’s how I came to show you guys I’m actually a light, not dark."

Personally, the backlash over North's experimental style appears to be exaggerated, as most alternative teenagers experimented with 'ear-stretchers', septum rings made from notebook spirals and brightly coloured hair extensions.

The only difference is that the daughter of Kardashian and West has a much higher budget to do so.
