According to a video posted on PBD Podcast Podcast on Tuesday October 19, 2026, Floyd Mayweather said he saw his mother use drugs and said his father was a drug dealer, so he decided not to drink or take drugs. He spoke when the host asked how he said no to temptation while surrounded by nightlife. Mayweather said the choice was his own.

The host recalled stories that Mayweather went to nightclubs but did not drink. Mayweather said that was true, though he was not doing sit-ups in the back. He said his team would drink and party, and he would go out too, without alcohol or drugs.

In his words, Floyd Mayweather said, “I seen my mother doing drugs. My dad was a drug dealer because his career didn’t go good.

“So once I seen those certain things, I said, you know what? You know, that’s not for me.

“So I took it upon myself not to do drugs, not to drink. I was always on my mother about, I was always on her case about smoking and drinking. So I didn’t want to be a hypocrite. So I said I’m not going to do it,” he said.

Mayweather said he sees his body as his real wealth. He said people only get one body and one temple, and should take care of it. He added that in training camp he would run six or seven miles home from the club.

The host said he respected the choice and asked how it felt to be among famous people who might have bad habits. Mayweather said he looks at what he has achieved. He asked himself whether he got there by smoking or drinking.

He said he got there by living a clean life, saying his prayers and working hard. He said he asked God for help to reach the Olympics and to help his mother get off drugs. He said he promised to keep obeying in return.
