Ruto Back in Sugoi As He Takes Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy to A Walk in His Farm~Photos
President William Ruto has welcomed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to his private farm in Koilel, Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County, following the Mashujaa Day celebrations held in Eldoret.
The two leaders had joined other dignitaries during Kenya’s national celebrations honouring individuals who contributed to the country’s independence and development. After the official engagements, Ruto hosted the Ethiopian leader for a tour of his agricultural establishment.
During the visit, the Kenyan president personally took Abiy around his modern dairy farm, introducing him to the facility’s operations and farming methods. The tour provided an opportunity for the visiting prime minister to observe livestock management practices, feeding arrangements and other activities involved in running the enterprise.
Photographs circulating online showed the two leaders dressed casually in wide-brimmed hats as they walked through the farm’s livestock facilities. They were also seen engaging in conversations during the tour, with their interaction highlighting the relaxed atmosphere of the meeting.
The visit offered Abiy an opportunity to learn more about Ruto’s interest in commercial agriculture and dairy production. It also provided a different setting for the two leaders to interact outside formal diplomatic meetings and official government functions.
Ruto’s decision to receive the Ethiopian prime minister at his private property has been viewed as a gesture of hospitality towards Kenya’s neighbouring country. Their interaction also highlighted the importance of maintaining cordial relations between the two East African nations.
Agriculture remains an important sector for both Kenya and Ethiopia, providing employment, supporting rural communities and contributing to food supplies. Exchanges on farming practices can create opportunities for countries in the region to learn from one another and explore ways of improving agricultural productivity.
The farm tour has attracted attention on social media, with photographs of the leaders drawing interest from members of the public.
Beyond the official ceremonies surrounding Abiy’s visit, the meeting at Koilel offered a glimpse into the personal side of diplomatic relations. It also highlighted shared interests in agricultural development, rural livelihoods and food security across the region.
