Prince Harry rushes chatty Meghan Markle as she gets carried away on walkabout: ‘We’ve got to go’ – watch
LEAVE A COMMENT Prince Harry had to rush Meghan Markle along as they were pressed for time during their trip to Nottingham last week.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex greeted fans outside the Community Recording Studio (CRS) in St Ann's, but needed to keep to a tight schedule.
The crowd cheered for the couple before one woman held Meghan, who was holding a colourful bunch of flowers, in a hug for several seconds.
As more people tried to greet her, Harry said, "We’ve got to go. I’ve got to take her," before putting his hand on his wife’s shoulder.
Harry then responded to someone in the crowd who said, "You’re lovely," by pointing at her and saying, "You’re lovely".
However, he was clearly worried about the time, and placed a hand on Meghan's back throughout the conversation, before ushering her onwards and tugging on her sleeve. Meghan had a few more hugs before she blew a kiss and the couple left.
"Harry is a typical husband that knows his wife likes to talk and socialise, and he’s trying to rush her because if he leaves her too long, she will stay there for a good hour. It cracks me up," commented one delighted fan.
Another added: "She doesn't feel right just walking away so it's good for her husband to help her along," while a third person said it was "beautiful to see the love and support".
It's not just the Duchess of Sussex who gets carried away when meeting members of the public.
It's a common sight for the Prince of Wales to hurry along his wife, who famously loves chatting with those she meets and often keeps the rest of the family waiting.
Earlier this month, during their surprise visit to Northern Ireland, Catherine admitted she'd lost track of time.
"What is the time now?" she asked one well-wisher, before being told it was the afternoon. "I always lose track of time," she said.
During a royal walkabout on the Isle of Bute in September, the future Queen took no notice of William's request to hurry her along the line of royal fans waiting to greet them.
In a video shared by Kings Guard Tours, William jokingly told Kate, while tapping on his watch: "You've got to speed up, you’ve got to get all the way down there before you go."
During a previous interview conducted to mark the late Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, the Princess of Wales revealed that she was 'teased' by her in-laws over her talkativeness during royal outings.
Catherine said: "I think there is a real art to walkabouts; everyone teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting, so I think I've still got to learn a little bit more and pick up a few more tips I suppose."
On Christmas Day in 2024, the Princess of Wales took so long to greet well-wishers that she quipped: "I seem to have lost my family!"
On Tuesday, Prince Harry gave a bombshell interview to GQ Magazine, saying he hopes to "work out" disagreements with his family.
His comments came amid the royal state visit from the Sultan of Oman, with the King, Queen, and Prince and Princess of Wales hosting a lavish state banquet at Windsor Castle that evening.
During the interview, recorded in New York in late September and shared on Tuesday, Harry was asked if he grieves his "complicated" relationship with his father and brother.
The Duke of Sussex said: "Yeah, yes, of course, from a family perspective, again another massively relatable issue for so many people."
He also spoke of "sibling disagreements" and said, "some people don't want it to work out".
A Sussex spokesperson later confirmed his comments on others not wanting to work things out were "absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family."
They added: "The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way."
