Family officially invites Presidency to Nana Oye’s twin brothers’ funeral

Share on Twitter The family of Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has officially invited the Presidency to the funeral and final funeral rites of her twin brothers, Dr. Isaac Atebampuadu and Sidney Nii Okubampuadu.

The family made the announcement during a visit to the Presidency, where it formally presented the funeral arrangements and invited government representatives to participate in all the ceremonies.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the family head said the visit was to fulfil an earlier commitment to inform the Presidency once arrangements for the burial had been finalised.

“We are here to solemnly and sincerely, and with deep sorrow again, to announce to you formally the death of our two beloved twin brothers, Dr. Isaac Atebampuadu and Sidney Nii Okubampuadu,” he said.

He explained that the younger twin, Dr. Isaac Atebampuadu, died on August 22, 2026, while the elder twin, Sidney Nii Okubampuadu, popularly known as Oku, died on September 14, 2026.

The family head announced that the burial would take place on November 7, 2026, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

“Their burial will be on the 7th of November, 2026, which will be held at the forecourt of the State House,” he said.

He added that a memorial service would be held the following day, Sunday, November 8, at Venice International Chapel, the church attended by Dr. Isaac Atebampuadu.

A special memorial service has also been scheduled for November 15 at the Matthias of Uganda Catholic Church in Mamprobi, where both brothers were baptised.

The family head invited the Presidency to participate in all the funeral ceremonies, saying, “So we are here to invite you to come with us, come along with us, to participate fully in the funeral, all the ceremonies from the beginning to the end.”

As part of the customary invitation, the family presented bottles of schnapps to the Presidency.

The family head said further details of the funeral programme, including the prescribed attire, would be communicated later. However, he explained that black and white, or white and black, would be acceptable for the burial ceremony.

“Generally, these are twins, and under our custom, we normally see them off in basically or predominantly white apparel,” he said.
