English-Ghanaian attacker Ryan McAidoo registered an assist after coming off the bench on Tuesday night as Manchester City recorded a convincing 5-1 victory over AEK Athens in the third round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
McAidoo came on as a substitute in the 76th minute, replacing Floyd Samba, and immediately made an impact by setting up Phil Foden for City’s fifth goal.
On the matchday, Manchester City took the lead in the 12th minute when Elliot Anderson reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 34th minute through Foden, who finished calmly inside the box after being set up by Rico Lewis.
AEK Athens responded in the 52nd minute when Stavro Pilo converted a defence-splitting pass, sending a low finish into the bottom-right corner to reduce the deficit.
However, City restored their two-goal cushion five minutes later. Foden provided the assist for Rayan Cherki, who finished neatly into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-1.
Foden later added two goals for his hat-trick as he sealed the big win for Manchester City.
Although McAidoo started the match on the bench, his late introduction provided an opportunity to contribute to City’s impressive performance.
