Sibusiso Mageba Zulu alleges Jacob Zuma is dead and his body is kept in a mortuary

Sibusiso Mageba Zulu has alleged that former president Jacob Zuma is dead and that his body is being secretly kept in a mortuary until after South Africa’s 4 November 2026 local government elections, supposedly to allow his son Duduzane Zuma to take over the MK Party. The allegation comes amid uncertainty and conflicting reports about Zuma’s health following his hospitalisation in Pietermaritzburg, although the MK Party announced that he had been discharged and was recovering after experiencing fatigue.

What the post does not settle is what evidence exists for the claim that Zuma has died, since the post does not provide any document, statement from the family or confirmation from a mortuary or hospital. The post also does not say whether the MK Party has responded to the allegation or whether Sibusiso Mageba Zulu has any connection to the family. Those details matter because they would establish whether the claim has any basis. Without them, the allegation rests on the poster’s assertion rather than on any confirmed information.

Others pushed back against the claim, saying the MK Party had announced that Zuma had been discharged and was recovering, and that previous speculation about his death had been rejected by the party. Some said the allegation was irresponsible given the uncertainty around his health and that it would cause distress to his family, while others said the conflicting reports about his condition had created space for such claims to spread.

The available information does not resolve whether Zuma has died or whether the body is being held in a mortuary as alleged. The death claim remains unverified, and the post’s suggestion of a secret cover up has not been substantiated. The public is waiting for an official statement from the family or the party, because the allegation has spread amid uncertainty about his health without any confirmation of what is actually happening.
