Tracy Is Safe for Now, I Won’t Take a Second Wife Like My Friend Shatta Wale Did — Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has ruled out the possibility of marrying a second wife, explaining that he does not believe he has the capacity to handle the additional responsibilities and pressures that would come with having another marriage.

During an interview on the When We Sit show, the award-winning musician was asked whether he would consider taking a second wife, similar to his friend Shatta Wale, but he indicated that polygamy was not something he had seriously considered.

Sarkodie explained that the demands of managing multiple marriages could create significant pressure, adding that he was not convinced he could comfortably handle such an arrangement.

“It’s not something I have thought about, the stress I will face, I don’t think I have the bandwidth for that,” he said during the interview.

The rapper’s response suggests that his decision is based on the responsibilities he associates with maintaining more than one marriage rather than a desire to follow the marital choices of other people in the entertainment industry.

When the question was extended to whether he might reconsider if having a second wife came without the stress he anticipates, Sarkodie maintained his position, indicating that the idea remained outside his plans.

His remarks place emphasis on the practical and emotional demands of marriage, suggesting that he prefers to avoid taking on responsibilities he does not believe he is prepared to manage.

Sarkodie married his longtime partner, Tracy Sarkcess, in July 2018 after several years of being together, with their relationship developing before the rapper reached some of the major milestones in his music career.

The couple have two children and have generally maintained a relatively private approach to their family life, despite Sarkodie’s prominence in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Although the rapper occasionally shares aspects of his personal life, he and his wife have largely kept their family matters away from constant public attention.

His latest comments offer a glimpse into his thinking about marriage and the possibility of having more than one wife, with the musician making it clear that he is not interested in pursuing polygamy simply because another public figure has chosen that path.

By referring to the stress he believes would accompany such an arrangement, Sarkodie indicated that he is more concerned about the responsibilities involved than the idea of expanding his family through another marriage.

His position remains that he does not have the capacity for the demands of a second marriage, making it clear that taking another wife is not something he intends to pursue based on his current outlook.
