Arsenal Superstar Spotted Training Alone Ahead of Bayern Munich Clash
According to a report by Football London on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Arsenal have received an encouraging injury update ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich, with defender Piero Hincapie taking another step towards returning to full fitness.
The Gunners suffered an unexpected setback following their victory over Leeds United, when Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi sustained ankle injuries during the post-match warm-down at the Emirates Stadium.
Hincapie’s injury appeared particularly concerning, as the Ecuadorian defender reportedly needed assistance leaving the pitch. He subsequently missed Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Lille and their Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.
Zubimendi, meanwhile, recovered quickly enough to feature among the substitutes against Forest, providing Arsenal with a positive development regarding their midfield options.
Fresh reports have now revealed that Hincapie has resumed individual training on grass at Arsenal’s Sobha training facility, raising hopes that his recovery is progressing well.
Hand of Arsenal shared the encouraging development on X, describing it as “excellent news.” Journalist Ryan Taylor also confirmed that the defender was working individually while continuing his recovery from the ankle problem.
Before Arsenal’s meeting with Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta suggested Hincapie would not face an extended absence, estimating that he could require “another week or two” before returning to action.
Although his progress represents encouraging news, Wednesday’s trip to Munich is expected to arrive too early for the £34 million defender to participate.
Hincapie’s return would provide valuable defensive cover, particularly with Riccardo Calafiori having started every Premier League match this season. Arsenal will need additional options as their demanding schedule continues.
If Hincapie remains unavailable, Myles Lewis-Skelly could provide an alternative at left-back against Bayern. The youngster featured in that position against Lille before being rested completely during the Forest victory.
Arsenal also received positive news concerning goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has reportedly returned to training after suffering an injury before the Nottingham Forest fixture, when Illan Meslier occupied the substitute goalkeeper’s position.
