Mussa Dankwah’s Latest Poll on 2028 Presidential Race Sparks Nationwide Debate Among Supporters

Global InfoAnalytics opinion poll has renewed debate over Ghana’s 2028 presidential race after comparing the potential performance of leading NDC figures with former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP.

The survey, conducted under the leadership of Global InfoAnalytics CEO Mussa Dankwah, examined hypothetical head-to-head contests involving Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Haruna Iddrisu, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. Other political figures, including Alan Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako, were also included in the broader assessment.

Dr. Ato Forson emerged with the highest support among the NDC contenders, polling 55% against Dr. Bawumia’s 37%. The survey further reported strong backing for Ato Forson among respondents in higher-income groups, including 72% support among those earning 100,000 or more.

Haruna Iddrisu recorded 54%, compared with 38% for Dr. Bawumia. In separate hypothetical contests, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang each obtained 51%, while Dr. Bawumia received 39%.

The poll also identified differences in support based on income. According to the findings, Dr. Bawumia attracted stronger support from lower- and middle-income respondents, while the NDC contenders performed better among higher-income earners.

The findings have attracted varied reactions. Some NPP supporters have questioned the credibility of the poll, while others have criticised its methodology and conclusions. Supporters of Global InfoAnalytics, however, have defended the organisation and referred to its previous polling work.

The results should be viewed as an indication of public sentiment at the time the survey was conducted rather than a definitive forecast of the 2028 election. Political preferences can change considerably as economic conditions, government performance, party campaigns and other developments evolve.

The poll has nevertheless contributed to growing public discussion about possible presidential contenders and the political landscape ahead of the 2028 general election.
