Atiku: US Firm Alleges Assassination Plot, Issues Fresh Warning To Tinubu
According to a report by DAILY POST on Tuesday 20 October 2026, a United States-based lobbying and policy advisory firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has alleged that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could be facing a threat to his life over an alleged assassination plot.
The firm made the allegation in a post on its verified X account, claiming that the Nigerian Presidency and its alleged agents were plotting to assassinate the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate.
Von Batten-Montague-York described the reported development as disturbing, warning that any political assassination involving Atiku could trigger serious international consequences and compel the United States to respond.
The firm further disclosed that Dr Von Batten intended to report the allegations against President Bola Tinubu to the administration of US President Donald Trump and members of the US Congress.
In its post, the lobbying firm issued a stern warning to Tinubu and members of his administration, suggesting that Washington could take the matter seriously.
“The United States has given President Bola Tinubu enough rope,” the firm stated.
It added a further warning to the Nigerian president and his associates, saying the situation would not end well for them.
However, the firm did not provide publicly verifiable evidence in the statement to substantiate the alleged assassination plot or its accusations against the Presidency.
The allegation comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with Atiku emerging as a potential challenger to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
There was no response from the Nigerian Presidency to the allegations in the report.
