For some South Africans, it’s become a life-changing opportunity to make money, showcase talent and build careers.

Content creators, who spoke to Daily Sun, shared how platforms such as TikTok and other social media networks have opened doors they never imagined, giving them financial independence, personal growth and freedom to turn what they love into a living.

Content creator Sni Mhlongo said content creation had completely changed her life and become her main source of income.

“In a sense, this is the only job I’ve ever had, and I sustain myself because of content creation,” she said.

For Sni, creating content is more than just posting videos online. It’s become a career that allows her to support herself and build her future.

Another creator, Sphokuhle.n said dancing on TikTok had taken her to places she never expected.

“You see how far I am. It’s because of social media platforms. It changed my life in ways I never expected, and I’ll forever be grateful,” she said.

Her experience shows how something as simple as dancing and sharing videos online can become a steppingstone to greater opportunities.

Comedian and content creator Tanaka Dube also shared how using social media to showcase his comedy had positively changed his life.

By sharing his talent with online audiences, he found space where his creativity could reach people beyond his immediate surroundings.

For many creators, the beauty of social media lies in the opportunity to start with what they have, whether it’s a smartphone, a dance move or a good sense of humour.

However, building an online career takes consistency, creativity and the ability to connect with audiences in a crowded digital space.
