Traffi-Tech Rollout To Take Effect November 1, 2026 – ACP Alexander Kweku Obeng

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alexander Kweku Obeng has called on the Ghanaian public to support the Ghana Police Service as it prepares to officially roll out its automated traffic enforcement initiative, Traffi-Tech, on November 1, 2026.

Speaking in an interview reported by UTV Ghana on Sunday, October 18, 2026, ACP Obeng emphasized that integrating digital technology into road safety enforcement marks a crucial step toward modernizing police operations. He urged motorists and citizens to embrace the new system, highlighting that building a technologically advanced police service requires public cooperation and compliance rather than administrative enforcement alone.

The Traffi-Tech system relies on automated cameras and digital monitoring devices to track traffic violations, enforce road safety regulations, and reduce reliance on conventional manual policing methods. By automating violation detection, law enforcement aims to improve operational efficiency, minimize road corruption, enhance accountability, and streamline traffic management across major corridors.

For road users, the rollout signals a shift toward stricter, automated oversight, making consistent compliance with traffic regulations essential. ACP Obeng noted that while digital enforcement will enhance road safety, its long-term success depends heavily on transparent communication, reliable technology infrastructure, and comprehensive public education regarding payment protocols and penalty appeals.

As the implementation date approaches, the Ghana Police Service advises motorists to closely follow official public announcements to understand the system’s operational guidelines. Ultimately, ACP Obeng framed the initiative as a collective national effort toward modernizing law enforcement, reducing road accidents, and fostering a disciplined driving culture across Ghana.
