Tragedy at Anyinam: Three-Month-Old Breastfeeding Mother Dies of Suspected Heart Attack
Residents of Anyinam in Ghana’s Eastern Region are mourning the death of a young mother, Diana Owusu, also known by the name Atizigi, following a sudden health emergency believed to be linked to her heart.
Reports indicate that Diana had welcomed a baby only three months earlier and was still breastfeeding. She reportedly developed sudden chest pains and began struggling to breathe. Her family immediately rushed her to a health facility, hoping she would receive urgent medical attention, but she sadly died upon arrival.
News of her death has reportedly shocked the community, with friends, neighbours and family members remembering her for her kindness and caring nature. Messages of sympathy and tributes have also been shared widely on social media.
Although initial observations reportedly suggest a possible heart-related problem, the exact cause of Diana’s death has not yet been conclusively established. More medical investigations are expected to provide further information.
The tragedy has highlighted concerns about heart health among women in the period following childbirth. Experts note that new mothers may face additional physical and emotional pressure as their bodies recover from pregnancy and delivery.
Chest discomfort, difficulty breathing, dizziness and nausea can sometimes be signs of a serious medical condition. Health professionals therefore encourage anyone experiencing such symptoms to seek immediate medical assistance.
The sudden loss of Diana has left her family and the wider Anyinam community in mourning, while also highlighting the need for greater awareness of health problems that can occur after childbirth.
