Stop Sleeping With Our Daughters – Church Of Pentecost Fires Strong Warning To Teachers

The Church of Pentecost’s Schools Outreach Ministry has sent a strong warning to teachers who sexually abuse, harass, or bully female students in schools.

The Ministry says such shameful acts must stop immediately, and teachers must respect their job and protect children in their care.

The warning was given during an event held in Accra to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. The event was organized together with the Ghana Education Service and the Women’s Ministry of the Church.

Speaking at the event, leaders of the Ministry said it is sad that some teachers, who are supposed to be fathers and protectors, are rather taking advantage of young girls.

They revealed that the JoyNews Research Team has documented at least 44 cases of sexual abuse involving teachers since 2015, with school heads alone responsible for 40 percent of the cases.

The Church said this is not just indiscipline, it is a crime. Any teacher who sleeps with a student, harasses her for sex, or bullies her is destroying her future and must be punished.

They urged all teachers to uphold professional ethics, stay away from female students, and focus on teaching.

The Ministry also called on parents, community leaders, religious bodies, and the Ghana Education Service to join hands to make schools safe for girls.

They said every girl has the right to go to school without fear of being harassed or abused, and Ghana must protect that right at all cost.
