Joe Sibanyoni, co-accused back in Delmas court on extortion charges

Controversial businessman Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and his three co-accused, Bafana Sindane, Daniel Masilela and Philemon Msiza, are expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

They are facing extortion and money laundering charges.

The case relates to allegations that they demanded more than R2.2 million in protection fees from a mining businessman over several years.

The matter was previously postponed amid disputes over the State’s charge sheet, with the defence accusing prosecutors of failing to provide the final document.

At the last court appearance, the defence accused the state of deliberately failing to provide the final charge sheet, raising concerns over the progress of the case.

The matter was postponed to Tuesday the 20th of October for further proceedings.

The court is expected to hear the matter as proceedings continue, with the outstanding charge sheet.
