Hospital picture emerges of high-flying real estate agent mauled by two dogs while jogging in Brisbane park

A photo has emerged showing a high-profile real estate agent in hospital after he was seriously injured in a vicious dog attack in Brisbane’s north last week.

Ajay Malik was jogging through 7th Brigade Park in Chermside on Friday night when he was mauled by two dogs, suffering life-threatening injuries to his face and arms.

A GoFundMe page posted by Mr Malik’s brother-in-law, Aryan Sirohi, said what should have been an ordinary evening became a ‘frightening, life-changing experience’.

‘Ajay will be unable to work for a long time. That means a significant loss of income for him and his wife, at the same time as medical and rehabilitation costs begin to add up,’ Sirohi said on the page.

On Monday, Daily Mail reported the Artier Property Group director remained in hospital in a stable condition.

His wife told Seven News that they remain traumatised by the attack, adding that Mr Malik has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Meanwhile, police investigating the attack made a gruesome discovery when they found a man’s decomposing body nearby on Sunday morning.

The two incidents, which occurred 100m apart, are not believed to be linked, according to police.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the 48-year-old man’s death continue.

The two dogs that attacked Mr Malik were captured and seized by Brisbane City Council after they were shot by police.

The council said they were registered to the same address and had not previously been declared dangerous.

Upon locating the pets, Queensland Police told Daily Mail attending officers had been confronted with an ‘immediate and serious safety risk’.

It added after initial attempts to subdue the animals were unsuccessful, officers ‘were required to discharge their service firearms in response to the risk posed to members of the community and others at the scene’.

‘As with all police use of force incidents, the matter has been recorded and reviewed by senior officers in accordance with Queensland Police Service policy and procedures.’

Brisbane City Council confirmed that it would issue destruction orders for both dogs, which remain in custody at an animal shelter.

The animals were described as a bulldog-American Staffordshire terrier cross and a bulldog-boxer cross.

The dogs’ owner, Layla Evans, has 14 days to appeal the council decision.

A devastated Ms Evans, 22, gave a Nine News interview about her dogs on Saturday shortly before she was arrested by police on an unrelated matter.

Ms Evans was later released from custody and is now ‘sick with worry’ about the possible fate of her beloved pets Louis and Ruby.

‘I’m thinking about appealing it (the council’s order to destroy the dogs) but I haven’t even looked at the paperwork and I don’t know if I’ve got the money for this stuff,’ she told the Courier Mail.

Ms Evans is homeless and had been living in a tent in nearby bushland when her dogs escaped while she was away on Friday night.

She insisted that the dogs had not previously been aggressive and were not dangerous.

‘I don’t want anyone to get hurt; I always tell my dogs off if they ever show any signs of aggression – they’re just protective,’ she said.

‘They’ve never got out of their pens, it was deep in the bush so no-one would stumble across it.

‘Whoever went in there had to be going there on purpose, you don’t just accidentally walk into my tent.’
