Two boys have been seriously injured after allegedly being chased by a ute driven by a girl who witnesses said appeared to be underage in Melbourne’s east.

Stirling Jakubowski and his friend Courtney Nightingale, aged 12 and 13, were riding an e-scooter on Prince Street in Ferntree Gully on Sunday evening when a white ute carrying at least two passengers allegedly began following them.

Footage obtained by 7News showed the vehicle appearing to tail the boys who were riding the e-scooter along the footpath.

The video then cut to a paramedic tending to one of the victims, asking ‘You all good? Does that feel OK?’

Stirling said the ute’s occupants repeatedly sprayed them with silly string and followed them before the boys crashed.

‘They sprayed us [with] this silly string and they came back and forth and did it to us like three times,’ he told 7News.

‘They chased us down that street and they swerved at us.’

Stirling’s mother, April, said her son was ‘sitting up and talking’, but Courtney was in a bad way.

‘His friend was in a lot of distress and on the ground not moving,’ she said.

Courtney’s mother, Ange, said she was warned she would be greeted by a horrific scene when she arrived.

‘It was quite horrific and the lady who picked me up she was pre-warning me, she’s like “there’s a lot of blood”,’ she said.

Witnesses reportedly told police the ute appeared to be driven by an underage girl and that its occupants left the area after the crash. Neighbours said they heard the boys yelling.

Stirling and Courtney both suffered broken bones and open wounds, with Courtney ‘really battling’, according to his father.

‘He’s got skin grafts all over him, broken collarbone, broken finger,’ Ben said.

‘Most likely going to need plastic surgery.’

Ben said doctors told him Courtney would not have survived the crash had he not been wearing a helmet.

A Victoria Police spokesman told Daily Mail investigations into the incident were ongoing.

‘Two children, aged 13 and 12 from the Knox area, were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries after falling from their e-scooters after being followed by the ute about 7.30pm,’ he said.

‘The driver of the ute is yet to be identified and spoken to by police.’

Courtney’s parents have since called for those found responsible to face serious consequences for their actions.

‘Some severe punishment because it’s not nice,’ Ange said.

‘Come and have a see what pain you’ve caused me and Ange and my little boy,’ Ben said.
