Kwankwaso: My Principal Has Been To The Villa At The Invitation Of The President – Mohammed Reveals

In a recent interview on Trust TV, on Monday, October 19, 2026, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, addressed questions surrounding Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s visit to the Presidential Villa and allegations about his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

During the interview, Mohammed explained that Kwankwaso’s visit to the Villa followed an invitation from the president, insisting that the meeting should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of a political agreement between the two men.

According to Mohammed, “My principal has been to the Villa at the invitation of the president.” He made the statement while responding to questions about Kwankwaso’s political allegiance and suggestions that he might eventually return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mohammed acknowledged that Kwankwaso and Tinubu had maintained a cordial political relationship over the years. He explained that both men had served in the National Assembly, governed their respective states and participated in the formation of the APC.

However, he argued that their previous political association did not mean Kwankwaso was working for the current administration. He also stated that neither the president nor his representatives had publicly claimed that the visit resulted in an agreement for Kwankwaso to join the ruling party.

The Kwankwasiyya spokesperson further disclosed that Tinubu had previously offered Kwankwaso an opportunity to serve in his administration, but the former Kano State governor declined the offer.

Mohammed maintained that Kwankwaso’s political activities and his involvement in the NDC should be considered when assessing his commitment to the opposition. He also defended the partnership between Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, describing their political platform as an opportunity for Nigerians to consider an alternative ahead of the 2027 election.

He concluded that Kwankwaso’s visit to the Presidential Villa should be understood in the context of the existing relationship between the two politicians and should not, on its own, be treated as proof of an agreement to support Tinubu or the APC.
