You Have The Audacity To Call Me Tout In This Country,You Won’t Get Away With It-Sowore Tells Lawyer
Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), was involved in a heated exchange with a lawyer who allegedly referred to him as a tout during proceedings at a courtroom.
The incident was captured in a video shared by Symfoni TV, showing Sowore reacting angrily to the remark and challenging the lawyer over his choice of words. The activist insisted that he would not accept being insulted while pursuing what he described as the struggle for justice in Nigeria.
During the exchange, Sowore expressed his displeasure at being labelled a tout, warning the lawyer that he would not allow the comment to pass without a response. He maintained that his involvement in the country’s political and legal struggles was driven by his desire to see justice served.
The AAC presidential candidate appeared particularly offended by the description, questioning why the lawyer would address him in such a manner despite his stated commitment to challenging injustice and holding those in positions of authority accountable.
Sowore also used the opportunity to criticise the condition of the courtroom where the proceedings were taking place. He complained that the facility lacked basic amenities and sufficient space, arguing that the environment was unsuitable for conducting serious legal proceedings.
According to him, the room was too confined and lacked adequate ventilation, air conditioning, fans and enough seating to accommodate those present. He questioned why legal proceedings were being conducted in a place with such limited facilities, suggesting that the environment fell short of what should be expected of a courtroom.
In his reaction to the lawyer, Sowore said: “You have the audacity to call me a tout in this country, you are not going to get away with it. I am not the one who put you in a big pen to practice, this should not be courtroom in the first place.”
Courtrooms are expected to provide an orderly and suitable setting for the administration of justice. However, Sowore’s complaints highlighted concerns about overcrowding, ventilation and seating arrangements, which can affect the comfort of people attending court sessions.
