Netflix’s ‘A Different World’ Actor Dead After ‘Reckless’ Car Crash

Clark Atlanta University student Morgan Gamble passed away in a tragic car crash incident that occurred on Oct. 13, according to reports from People, 11 Alive and 12 WSFA. Authorities have since arrested Nikolai Dunford in connection to the incident. 

Gamble, a television, film and radio student at Clark Atlanta University, died at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, after she was allegedly struck by Nikolai Dunford’s vehicle near the intersection of Hank Aaron Drive and Glenn Street, according to reports from 11 Alive and 12 WSFA. 

Both were taken to the hospital following the collision, but Gamble, 21, sadly passed away, hours later.

Authorities believe Dunford was driving at 94 mph on Hank Aaron Drive, which is a 35 mph zone, when his vehicle struck Gamble’s car, 12 WSFA noted. The incident allegedly occurred as Gamble traveled west on Glenn Street and crossed Hank Aaron Drive in a 2016 Mazda CX-5, when her vehicle was struck by Dunford’s Lexus. According to warrants, Dunford was traveling in the northbound lane.

He has since been charged with reckless driving and speeding and first-degree vehicular homicide, according to inmate records obtained by People. He is currently in custody at the Fulton County Jail.

Gamble had a bright future ahead of her. Her family said she recently had the opportunity to be an extra on Netflix’s reboot of A Different World. Felicia Pride, the series’ showrunner, took to Instagram on Oct. 15, to pay tribute to the college student. 

“So very sorry and sad to hear about the passing of Morgan Gamble, who in addition to being a superstar student at Clark Atlanta, was also a background performer on A DIFFERENT WORLD. We were grateful to have her be a part,” she wrote.“Sending all of her loved ones and the CAU community love, light, and prayers.”

Clark Atlanta University also paid tribute to Gamble writing Wednesday:

“It is with profound sadness that Clark Atlanta University acknowledges the passing of Morgan Gamble, a member of our Panther family. The loss of a member of our University community is deeply felt, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to Morgan’s family, friends, classmates and all who knew and loved Morgan.”

“Out of respect for the family and their privacy during this difficult time, the University will refrain from sharing additional details. We ask the CAU community to join us in honoring the family’s privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”

The school will provide ongoing emotional support and offer counseling to students grieving Gamble’s loss.
