Prepare for 24 Hours of Heavy Morning and Afternoon Rainfall if You Live in These Regions

Kenya is expected to experience a mix of weather conditions on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department. Some regions will receive showers, while others are expected to remain warm and relatively dry.

Light to moderate rainfall is possible along the coast, particularly in Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu. Moisture from the Indian Ocean is expected to contribute to the wet conditions.

Counties near Lake Victoria may also receive rain. Kisumu could have showers in the morning and afternoon, while Siaya, Busia and Bungoma may receive rainfall later in the day. Migori could record temperatures of around 32°C.

Wajir and Mandera are likely to experience moderate showers accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures in the northeastern region could reach 34°C during the day.

Strong winds are expected in parts of northern Kenya, including Turkana, Samburu and Marsabit. Winds from the south and southeast could exceed 25 knots, or approximately 46 kilometres per hour.

Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Kitui and Makueni are expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging between 27°C and 32°C.

In Nairobi and parts of the Rift Valley, including Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado and Kericho, afternoon skies are expected to become brighter. Temperatures could reach between 26°C and 28°C.

Residents in areas affected by rain and strong winds should follow updates from the Meteorological Department and exercise caution when engaging in outdoor activities.
