You Are Not God – Omanhene Kwabena Asante Tells Ablakwa to Humble Himself and Apologise to Ghanaians

Broadcaster and social commentator Omanhene Kwabena Asante has called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to humble himself, acknowledge his mistakes and apologise to Ghanaians. In a sharp critique, Mr. Asante reminded the Minister that he owes his current position to the Ghanaian people and should therefore not disrespect them.

According to Omanhene Kwabena Asante, the Minister’s level of disrespect and arrogance has become excessive, and he urged him to remember that he is not God. He further reminded Mr. Ablakwa that while in opposition, the Minister frequently called for equity and fairness, and should therefore uphold the same standards now that he is in government.

The commentary follows the Minority in Parliament’s investigation into the government’s evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa. The Foreign Affairs Minister has stated that a total of 1,964 Ghanaians were evacuated from South Africa, with each person receiving an allowance of GHS 5,500 for reintegration and transportation.

However, the Minority in Parliament has raised concerns over alleged discrepancies in the Minister’s report and is seeking further clarification on the matter. The development has thrust the evacuation exercise into the centre of public discourse, with calls for greater transparency and accountability in how public funds were utilised.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante’s remarks add to the growing pressure on the Foreign Affairs Minister to provide a full and accurate account of the evacuation exercise.
