These Are The Best Cruise Destinations For Multi-Generational Travel, Per World Of Cruising Analysis

Cruising is one of the best ways to go when planning multi-generational travel. It's an easy way to keep everyone together while still giving each other space, and there's generally plenty to keep everyone busy: from young children to grandparents.

But certain cruise itineraries and ports outweigh others when it comes to a great holiday for the whole family. World of Cruising analyzed over a hundred cruise ports worldwide to identify the destinations that are best suited to families traveling with different age groups. The analysis looked at five different generational profiles and considered things like walkability, food tours, safety, and family-friendly activities to rank the best options.

Tokyo (specifically Yokohama) earned the top spot in the analysis. The port in the Greater Tokyo Area recorded just under a thousand family-friendly activities, 489 local food tours, and over a thousand neighborhood tours. It ranked first across four of the five generational profiles, making it a seriously great contender for the whole family.

In second place is Barcelona thanks to its excellent walkability score, overall fun score, and things to see and do. It has over two hundred museums, quality parks and green spaces, and hundreds of food tours and neighborhood tours suitable for all generations.

Lisbon earned second place for being a great option for families with varied needs and interests. The capital of Portugal offers more than 350 family-friendly activities and ranks among the top three for four out of the five generational profiles.

The skyline of Lower Manhattan's Financial District as well as the entire island of Manhattan, New York City, shot wide angle via helicopter from an altitude of about 1500 feet over New York Harbor.

New York City was named fourth best for multi-generational travel; it boasts 556 different neighborhood tours, over a hundred museums, and, unsurprisingly, plenty of things to do across generations.
