Massive Reactions After Mahama Reveals What Kufuor Told Him As He Visits His Residence Today

President John Dramani Mahama has sparked widespread reactions on social media after visiting former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence in Kumasi today.

Mahama shared the news on his official Facebook page on Monday, October 19, 2026. He wrote that he passed by Mr. Kufuor’s residence in the afternoon to check on him and find out how he was doing. He added that they also discussed some national and international issues.

The post came with photos from the visit. In one, the two leaders share a warm handshake in the sitting room. In another, they sit side by side, smiling. A third shows them sharing a joyful moment outdoors.

Many Ghanaians praised the President for the gesture. One user called it “such an honorable step,” while another said it was “what we call leadership.” Others described the visit as true statesmanship and a sign of humility.

Some commenters offered lighter remarks. A few jokingly asked the President to visit other political figures and elders. Others joked that Mr. Kufuor was smiling because of the visit. Some supporters also expressed strong support for Mahama and urged him to keep up the good work.

A few comments made comparisons with past leaders and the way they handled relations with their predecessors. Some users said the visit showed that the presidency should be about vision, respect, and unity.

Observers say the visit reflects the importance of dialogue between past and present leaders. Mr. Kufuor served as President from 2001 to 2009 and remains a respected elder statesman. Consultations with former presidents are often seen as a way of building national consensus.

The visit has also renewed discussion about the need for politicians to put the nation first. Many social media users hope other leaders will follow this example of respect and cooperation.
