PSG receive double boost as key duo train normally before Barcelona clash

According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday October 19, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain have received a double injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona, with Maghnes Akliouche and Senny Mayulu returning to full training.

According to reports, the two players have recovered from knocks they sustained during PSG’s 3-1 victory over Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Both Akliouche and Mayulu participated in Monday’s training session without experiencing any problems, putting them in contention for Tuesday’s important European encounter against Barcelona.

Their return comes as a welcome development for PSG head coach Luis Enrique, who will be without defender Nuno Mendes due to injury.

Although neither player is expected to start against Barcelona, their availability gives Enrique additional options as his team prepares for a challenging fixture.

Interestingly, both players have previously scored against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Akliouche found the net when Monaco defeated the Catalan club 2-1 at the Stade Louis II in September 2024. The forward joined PSG during the summer transfer window and has since become a useful option in Enrique’s squad.

Mayulu also scored against Barcelona during PSG’s 2-1 victory at the Spotify Camp Nou in October 2025.

Their previous performances against the Spanish champions could make them players to watch if they feature in Tuesday’s encounter, particularly if PSG need fresh attacking impetus during the game.

Enrique has previously expressed his admiration for Akliouche, highlighting the Frenchman’s versatility and ability to contribute in different positions.

The PSG manager praised his ability to operate as a forward, winger and midfielder, while also pointing to his technical quality, physical attributes and defensive work.

Enrique’s comments underline the value Akliouche brings to the squad, particularly in a match where tactical flexibility could prove important.

However, the return of the two players does not mean PSG will have a completely fit squad. Mendes remains unavailable, leaving Enrique to consider his defensive options ahead of the meeting with Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also dealing with injury problems of their own.

Hansi Flick’s side will be without Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen, who are unavailable because of injuries.

Defender Gerard Martin has travelled with the squad, but his involvement remains uncertain ahead of the match. His condition during training will help determine whether he is fit enough to feature.

Barcelona’s defensive absences could present a challenge against a PSG side that possesses considerable attacking quality.

The French champions will be hoping to take advantage of their home strength and secure a positive result, while Barcelona will aim to overcome their injury concerns and maintain their competitiveness in Europe.

With Akliouche and Mayulu back in training, PSG have gained two additional options at an important stage of their Champions League campaign.
