‘I’d post it again’ – Sarkodie on ‘shady’ one-legged man video

Rapper Sarkodie says he has no regrets over sharing a video of a one-legged man on his Instagram Story, insisting that he had no intention of mocking dancehall musician Stonebwoy, who was offended by the post.

The rapper maintained that he would stand by his decision to share the video, arguing that he should not be held responsible for another person’s interpretation of content he did not intend to use to ridicule anyone.

Sarkodie made the remarks during an interview in which he was questioned about the controversy surrounding the video, which he posted shortly after Stonebwoy’s performance at Wembley.

The interviewer asked whether Sarkodie understood why people could interpret the post as a dig at Stonebwoy, who has a disability, particularly given the history of tensions surrounding comments about the musician’s physical condition.

Asked why he chose to share the video of the one-legged man, Sarkodie denied that he intended to make fun of Stonebwoy, stressing that mocking someone over a disability was not something he would deliberately do.

He argued that his career had not been characterised by attacks of that nature and distinguished such conduct from the exchanges that sometimes occur during rap beefs.

“If it’s a rap beef, that’s different. You know, that one, you’re going bars, but this is something very serious. You don’t joke with things like that,” he said.

The rapper added that he would not deliberately target another person’s disability, describing such an act as crossing a line he would not want to approach.

However, when pressed on whether he would have shared the video if he had known the reaction it would generate, Sarkodie initially gave an affirmative response before clarifying his position during the exchange.

He questioned why he should feel regret if he had not intended to offend anyone, arguing that another person’s interpretation should not automatically be treated as proof of malicious intent.

“If you choose to be offended and I did not try to offend you, you think just because of that, I have to feel sad? No, that’s not right for any human being,” he said.

He further argued that people should not impose their feelings on others when there was no deliberate attempt to cause offence.

The controversy has drawn attention to the relationship between Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, with the timing of the Instagram post prompting questions about whether it was an indirect response to the dancehall star.
