He Drove Straight Into a Sheriff’s Cruiser—Then Tried to Ditch His Bottle in Front of the Deputy

The crash happened on a Saturday night near Northwest 32nd Avenue and 79th Street in Northwest Miami-Dade, according to WSVN 7News, which obtained the footage exclusively.
In the video, the van slowly hits the back of the parked cruiser. “Wow! He just hit the cop car,” a stunned onlooker says.
“And out of all the things to hit, a police car,” another witness adds.

“Look how he throws the bottle away,” one said in Spanish.
The arrest report backs them up. It says the driver, identified as Pedro Gonzalez, “attempted to hide an alcoholic container by throwing it on the floor.”
According to the report, the deputy noted that Gonzalez had bloodshot eyes and was wobbling when he walked. Deputies “terminated the field sobriety exercises for his safety.”
“Look, he can barely even walk because he’s so drunk,” a witness can be heard saying in Spanish.
An ambulance arrived shortly afterward. No injuries were reported.
Gonzalez faces several charges, including:
On top of the DUI accusation, the suspended-license charge means he shouldn’t have been behind the wheel at all.
Every state has a Move Over law requiring drivers to slow down or change lanes for stopped emergency vehicles, because parked cruisers get hit far too often.
Earlier this month, a driver who was offered a free ride home instead of a DUI tried to grab an officer’s AR-15.
