SAPD: 18-year-old woman killed after being hit on Hwy 281

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An 18-year-old woman was killed early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while exiting her car on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 281, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Police said the woman had stopped because of mechanical problems, leaving her vehicle partially in a lane of traffic. A bystander helped push the vehicle out of the main lanes.

Around 2:45 a.m., the woman was struck as she stepped out of the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication, police said. No criminal charges are expected.
