Kewal Dhillon Says Amit Shah’s Punjab Visit Offers Hope to Families Affected by Drugs
Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon said Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s upcoming meetings with families affected by drugs during his visit to Punjab would offer hope to those seeking justice and concrete action against the drug menace.
Dhillon said Shah would meet the family of Parminder Singh Jhotta in Mansa, the family of Gulzar Singh in Toor Banjara village of Sangrur district, and the family of Bikramjit Singh in Mari Panwan village of Gurdaspur district.
Highlighting the Centre’s stated commitment to addressing the drug problem, Dhillon said the Home Minister’s visit was significant given the situation in Punjab and the growing public concern over substance abuse and drug trafficking.
He said the meetings would provide an opportunity for affected families to share their concerns and seek justice. Dhillon thanked Amit Shah for taking the initiative, expressing hope that their grievances would receive serious attention.
Dhillon also thanked Sardar Bhim Singh Fauji, father of Parminder Singh Jhotta, for expressing faith in the Union Home Minister. He said families affected by drugs wanted concrete action against drug trafficking and justice in cases involving their loved ones.
Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Dhillon questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s foreign visits at a time when the state was grappling with the drug problem and affected families were seeking justice.
He said Punjab needed a government that delivered tangible results rather than relying on statements, adding that the state government’s handling of the drug crisis continued to face scrutiny.
Dhillon said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were committed to making Punjab drug-free. He added that a commitment had been made to eliminate drugs from the state by December 31, 2029.
Describing the fight against drugs as essential to protecting Punjab’s younger generation and future generations, Dhillon said sustained efforts were needed to dismantle drug trafficking networks, take strict action against those involved and strengthen rehabilitation support for people affected by substance abuse.
He expressed confidence that the Central Government would continue its efforts to address the drug problem and support families seeking justice.
