Can LINK Get Back to $15? A new tokenization partnership in Japan gave Chainlink bulls reason to cheer, yet LINK fell anyway. Whether the token can claw back to $15 depends on forces that have nothing to do with the deal.

Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK) has a new tokenization partnership in Japan, but LINK still needs a 23% gain to recover and reach $15. On October 16, 2026, Japan’s Pacific Meta selected Chainlink’s cross-chain system as its preferred interoperability solution for tokenized finance. Despite this development, Chainlink’s price declined that same week.
LINK is trading around $12.20, having fallen 8.5% over the past week and 14% over the last two weeks. This is a striking 76.8% drop from its all-time high of $52.70 reached in May 2021.
Many holders are fixated on the $15 target because the token last closed above this level at $15.44 on September 28. With the new partnership in Japan, could LINK regain its footing and climb back to $15 before the end of 2026?
Currently, Chainlink’s market capitalization stands at about $9.35 billion, making it the 16th largest cryptocurrency. If LINK reached $15, the approximately 767 million tokens in circulation would represent a total market cap of about $11.5 billion.
However, supply dynamics add a layer of complexity. LINK has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens, so a $15 market cap would account for only 77% of its fully diluted valuation, which includes the value of all tokens that could ever exist. Consequently, each time new tokens enter the market, buyers need to invest more to keep the price the same.
The collaboration focuses on Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which facilitates moving tokens and data between blockchains. In addition, Pacific Meta has integrated Chainlink’s Automated Compliance Engine (ACE), a tool that automates regulatory checks, such as determining who can hold a token, into its Partner Solutions marketplace.
“Japanese institutions are rapidly advancing toward tokenized finance,” said Andy Hung, head of alliance at Pacific Meta, during the October 16 announcement. However, the announcement did not specify any financial institutions, tokenized assets, rollout timeline, or financial terms involved. The two companies have collaborated since 2023, primarily in Web3 gaming.
This partnership will generate demand for LINK, but only indirectly. Clients can pay for Chainlink’s services with stablecoins, and Chainlink then converts that income into LINK through a process called payment abstraction. Therefore, the partnership will only lead to LINK purchases after clients start using the services, and Pacific Meta has not yet disclosed any specific clients.
Chainlink launched a Reserve in 2025 to use network revenue to buy and lock away LINK tokens. However, a recent look at the Reserve on October 17 revealed that Chainlink’s dashboard wasn’t displaying holdings or purchase figures for the past 30 days, making it hard for outsiders to assess buying activity.
With about $293 million of LINK trading daily, a single revenue-based buyer needs substantial volume to significantly influence prices.
Bitcoin, however, may carry more weight. As of October 19, Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) trades around $82,820 and accounts for 60.7% of the overall cryptocurrency market’s value, while the Fear and Greed Index, a measure of market sentiment, stands at 44, indicating a fearful environment. Historically, LINK has amplified Bitcoin’s movements, gaining 39.1% over 90 days while Bitcoin rose 23.4%, as our comparisons show.
We believe LINK faces a challenging road ahead to close above $15 by December 2026. While the new partnership expands Chainlink’s presence in Japan, it hasn’t created immediate demand for LINK, especially in an on-edge market. A recovery would likely require Bitcoin to stabilize first, then LINK to reclaim its recent close of $13.33 from October 11, surpass the $14.65 level from October 2, and test the $15.44 to $15.77 range.
Despite these challenges, LINK has risen 42.6% over the last 200 days, suggesting buyers have been active during price drops. If LINK closes above $13.33 each day, hitting $15 by the end of 2026 remains possible. However, if it falls below the September 16 low of $10.61, it could wipe out recent gains and push the $15 target into 2027.
