Atiku: I know Him Very Well,I’ve Done So Much With Him In The Past Than Anybody Around Him–Kwankwaso
According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, October 15, 2026, that Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s vice-presidential candidate, said he had urged a group of Fulani visitors to convince former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to drop out of the 2027 presidential race.
Kwankwaso shared this during an appearance on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, where he discussed the political climate ahead of the next general election.
The former Kano State governor said the group had visited his home for a courtesy call, and he used the opportunity to suggest that they speak to Atiku about withdrawing from the contest.
He said he used the opportunity to urge the visitors to speak with the former vice president before returning to their communities and persuade him to abandon his presidential bid.
“I met with Fulani visitors from various parts of the country at my home and saw it as an opportunity to address them,” he said. “I asked them to meet Atiku before going back to their towns and villages and urge him to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race.”
“Atiku is somebody that I know fairly well, and I have done so much together with him in the past, more than anybody who is around him today,” Kwankwaso said.
His comments come amid heightened political activity and consultations ahead of the 2027 general election, as opposition parties and prominent figures prepare for the presidential race.
Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and senator, has maintained a long-standing political relationship with Atiku and has worked with the former vice president on several occasions.
